Like many of the products I design, the lounge chair was build around one design detail; the armrest.  I wanted to see wood seamlessly transition into the square tube steel I had been using for some time.  After playing with that process, I decided the best function for it would be on the armrest on a chair, which is a place where you can experience the feeling of the cold steel to warm wood the best.

The biggest challenge with the chair, or any chair, lies in the geometry.  I had a vision in my head and on paper of the modern look I wanted the chair to have, but had some initial problems creating a comfortable chair adhering to those restrictions.  After making several compromises, I landed on a chair that is not only comfortable, but stays true to the look of the classic modern chairs that helped inspire its design.
